LIVELIHOOD
The Livelihood Support Program is one of the SSRLP core sub-components under Improving Social and Economic Inclusion and is being implemented by COMSIP Cooperative Union Limited.
This program provides an economic inclusion package to selected Social Cash Transfer Program (SCTP) and Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works Program (CS - EPWP) households in all districts supported by the SSRLP. It incorporates basic, enhanced and graduation livelihoods packages through a mindset change approach.
The livelihood package seeks to compliment the consumption support provided through the SCTP and CS-EPWP wages through a ‘cash-plus model. The model is aimed at instilling a culture of savings and investment through various capacity building initiatives, which helps beneficiary households to grow savings that eventually cushion them in times of shocks. This is done by enhancing the productive capacity of SCTP and CS-EPWP beneficiaries through sustainable multi-sectoral income-generating investments and linkages designed to increase poor households’ incomes and assets, build human capital, and promote social and financial inclusion.
The Livelihood Support Sub-component is designed in such a way that it meets the needs of the youth and women among its beneficiaries by enabling them to increase their productive assets and incomes which will build resilience to economic shocks in a sustainable manner.
